Skytrax Awards: Cologne/Bonn again Europe’s No. 1

Hat-trick before a home crowd: Cologne Bonn Airport has been voted Europe’s Best Regional Airport for the third time in succession. In the renowned “Skytrax World Airport Awards”, which were presented in Cologne yesterday evening as part of the industry fair “Passenger Terminal Expo”, Cologne/Bonn landed in 1st place in the category of “Best Regional Airport Europe” as already in 2014 and 2015. In the global ranking of regional airports, Cologne/Bonn occupied second place. Apart from that, the airport on the Rhine occupied an outstanding 19th place in the overall rating covering all airport categories.

“The fact that we’ve been selected in 1^st place for the third time in a row makes us incredibly proud. Quite especially as this is a prize awarded by the general public based on the opinions of passengers,” said a delighted airport boss, Michael Garvens.  The Skytrax Award is a special accolade for the whole airport team and honors “in the first instance our employees, who do outstanding work here every day.”

The “Skytrax World Airport Awards” are the most coveted awards in aviation and are often called “Industry Oscars”. They are awarded in different categories. The results are based on a worldwide passenger survey carried out by the British management consultants Skytrax. In 2015, passengers around the world were asked about service and performance criteria of airports, among other things on service quality, family-friendliness and the shopping offered.
